Note: the Gentry and Grimes families are not related to the
Reeds, but were neighbors and close friends.
Edward Reed picked out the spot where he wished to be buried
when he was old. However, his son Miles suddenly took sick and died at age
46, so Miles was the first to be buried in the cemetery. Edward was the second
person buried there. Rebecca is buried at Orr, Oklahoma, where she
lived out her last days with her and Edward's daughter Lydia Reed Dickson.
This view is looking south. Edward and Miles owned the land you see.

October 30, 2002, I received the following
e-mail:
------------------------------
Dear Betty Ellen Atkins,
My name is Judie Hilton Porter. I only learned
of the Reed Cemetery's existance earlier this year when I found my great-great
grandparents were buried there. When I visited the graves, I was distressed
to find that the original concrete markers (that you describe in your transcript)
had been tossed into a ditch and replaced with small, metal funeral home
markers. I am trying to find out when and why this was done. In the online
transcript, you list H.N.Dean and Sara Dean. These are my gggrandparents.
Instead of "H.N.", it should read "John". I know that you took that from
the original marker because the "Jo" part had broken off and only "hn
Dean" remained. There are five members of the Dean family interred at Reed
and all five markers have been replaced with the small metal ones. I was
hoping you might be able to help me or maybe put me in touch with someone
who can. I appreciate any help you might offer.
Sincerely,
J.Hilton Porter
Dean family researcher
